The city of Benidorm is located in the Alicante Province of the Valencian Community of Spain. It is part of the Costa Blanca seaside resort area of the Mediterranean coast and is an incredibly popular vacation area for many, many people, with a population of over half a million people over the summer months.

Finding property and tips on buying property in Benidorm, Spain is very easy to do on the Internet. You can research the area fairly thoroughly without ever leaving your computer. There are hundreds of descriptive websites with fantastic pictures that illustrate what the area has to offer in good detail. These sites can also give you an idea of the price of real estate in the different area, and what you can expect to pay when purchasing property in Benidorm.

Once you have decided that Benidorm is where you want to buy, it is best to make several trips to the area to familiarize yourself with the exact location you want to buy, and what it is like during the day and night and at different times of the year. Also, talking to the locals will give you an idea of what they like about their neighborhoods, so you can see where you will feel the most comfortable.

After you know the area, it is important to set a reasonable budget. Know what you can afford to spend before you begin the process and it will be much easier. You must account for mortgage payments, taxes, insurance, fees, and any other applicable charges. Using a primary residence for collateral is fairly common, and could be part of your plan as well. Go into the process with a positive idea of what you can reasonably spend.

Once you have established your budget and decided upon a general location, it may be a great idea to hire a real estate agent. Find out who is a good agent from talking to residents in the area and use someone reputable and experienced. If you don’t speak Spanish, it will be invaluable for you to have a bilingual agent to assist you with your necessary filings and paperwork and to take you to several Benidorm properties in your budget. Make an appointment to have them show you what you can get in your price range.

An attorney in Spain, again bilingual if needed, will also be a huge help. Your attorney will be able to explain Spanish real estate and mortgage laws, and translate if necessary, exactly what you can expect when buying property in Spain. This will help ensure you know what the terms and conditions of your contract, loan, or purchase will be.

The Costa Blanca region of Alicante is an incredibly busy and heavily populated area in the summer months. Rentals are typically booked six months in advance and in the busiest areas, if you are going to rent out your property, a very nice price can be had. Also, because of the high volume of tourists, many homeowners find this is a good time to avoid the area.

If you are only planning to live in your Benidorm home for a portion of the year, making it into a rental property is a very good idea. The income provided will help greatly to pay the mortgage. The highest prices are paid in the summer, so as many renters as you can get for these months, the more you can pay on your investment.
